πŸŒ… Good morning, friends! ❀️
Hope you're all doing great!

I have been following the news all night with a heavy heart. I want to share with you what is happening in Mauritius.

The unrest began amid growing frustration over water shortages in several areas. Imagine having all the necessary plumbing and fittings in your home, yet still having no water coming from the taps for days. Water is a basic necessity, and people are struggling to understand how they can continue with their daily lives without it.

But the situation became even more heartbreaking following the shooting of Γ‰lodie Thomas , a 27-year-old young mother, who was travelling home from work in a van when she was struck by a bullet reportedly fired by a police sergeant on Friday night, 9 October. The van driver asked the police officer for permission to continue along the road to drop the passengers off at their homes. For no apparent reason, the officer allegedly pointed his gun at the driver’s temple and threatened him, telling him to leave if he didn’t want to get shot.

The driver then drove off, but the officer reportedly fired at the back of the van without any apparent justification. Tragically, Γ‰lodie was struck by the bullet. πŸ’”She is in critical condition, fighting for her life. The officer has been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.

These two issues have fueled anger and frustration, and the situation has escalated, with burning tyres, blocked roads and attacks on police facilities being reported in different areas.

It is deeply painful to see our peaceful island going through such turmoil. People need access to water, and citizens deserve justice, accountability and the right to feel safe. At the same time, violence and destruction will only bring further suffering.

My heart goes out to Γ‰lodie and her family, whom I personally know. πŸ’”πŸ™ I sincerely pray for her recovery and for peace to return to Mauritius.πŸ•ŠοΈβ€οΈ

Have a blessed day, my friends!

Good afternoonβ€οΈπŸ™My heart goes out to Γ‰lodie and her family, and I pray for her recovery and for justice to be served. It is heartbreaking when people feel unsafe in their own communities or struggle to access something as essential as water.
Sadly, the world is facing so much unrest at the moment, from ongoing wars and humanitarian crises to protests driven by frustration, inequality and demands for accountability. I’ve also seen in South Africa, there have been protests in Durban and other areas over immigration and asylum policies, with tensions sometimes turning violent. It is a reminder of how urgently our communities need solutions, responsible leadership and compassion for one anotherπŸ•ŠοΈβ€οΈ
May better days come for Mauritius and for everyone living through uncertainty and hardshipπŸ™πŸŒ

Good afternoon. β€οΈπŸ™ Thank you so much for your kind words, prayers, and compassion. It truly means a lot to me, especially because I personally know Γ‰lodie and her family. πŸ’” This situation has been heartbreaking, and we can only pray for her recovery, justice, and strength for her loved ones. The water shortage has also been very frustrating for many people here in Mauritius.
It’s painful to see so much suffering around the world. We desperately need more compassion, accountability, and leaders who genuinely care about the people. May peace, justice, and humanity prevail everywhere. πŸ•ŠοΈβ€οΈπŸŒπŸ™
