Living in Tuscany, floods are something we have to be aware especially during winter. It can rain for days, sometimes even for a whole week, causing rivers to swell and overflow. The Arno River flows about 1 km from my home. Fortunately, I live on a hill, so I have never experienced serious damage myself. Every time this happens, it reminds me how important it is to be prepared and not underestimate the power of nature. π§οΈβοΈ
1. Pay attention to weather alerts!! acting early can help avoid dangerous situations. 2. Maintaining riverbanks and removing obstacles that can block the water flow are important steps in reducing risks. 3. One thing we should always remember is that water can become dangerous very quickly. When flooding happens, the safest option is often to move to higher ground.
One thing people often overlook is prevention. We often think about what to do during a flood but regular maintenance before heavy rainfall arrives can make a huge difference.
Living close to the Arno has taught me that we cannot control nature but we can respect it, prepare better and help protect our communities.
Your lucky to live on a hill. Water finds an unobstructed path before settling. The volume and speed at which the flooding spreads can be devastating and take life.
Just as you have not had to deal with a fire, I have not dealt with Mother Nature's floods. Be safe π―

Yes, itβs terrible. Luckily, it didnβt happen to me personally, but we went to help those who were affected. Itβs truly devastating. Thanks a lot, dear Judit β€οΈ
