SourceLess is a complex project, and there’s a lot to understand about the different parts that make it work. Some of those parts are highly technical, but we still like to share them from time to time and explain, in plain language, what they do and why they’re there.

One of those parts is 𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐒 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠, the programming language being developed specifically for the SourceLess blockchain.

When developers write software, the language they use already sets some of the rules like how data is handled, what kinds of mistakes can be caught early, and which capabilities are available from the start.

ARES Lang includes smart-contract support, strong typing and memory safety, zero-knowledge tools, post-quantum cryptographic features and integration with 𝐆𝐨𝐝𝐂𝐲𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐫, SourceLess’s three-way encryption system.

GodCypher also incorporates earthquake entropy, using real seismic data as an input for cryptographic randomness.

For developers, this means more of the tools SourceLess needs are already available in the language instead of being added separately later.

You can explore 𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐒 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠, its features and examples at http://areslang.com

Sometimes, to create something new, you first have to create the language for it.

𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐒 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠 is being developed specifically for the SourceLess Blockchain, giving developers a language for writing smart contracts directly within that environment.

ARES Lang brings together ideas familiar from 𝐓𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐒𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭, 𝐏𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧, 𝐑𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐲, while adding 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥, 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬, 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐬, 𝐳𝐞𝐫𝐨-𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐙𝐊𝟏𝟑, 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐭-𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐦 𝐜𝐫𝐲𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐋𝐕𝐌-𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

It also experiments with 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐫𝐲𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐜 𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐦𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, alongside parallel execution and blockchain-specific optimisation.

For programmers, there’s a lot to explore and dig deeper into - from the language itself and smart contracts to its privacy and security features.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐑𝐮𝐧𝐬 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬?

Before a blockchain can run an application, move value or enforce a rule, someone has to define exactly what it should do.

Those instructions are written in a programming language.

For the SourceLess Blockchain, that language is ARES Lang.

ARES Lang is being developed specifically for blockchain applications and smart contracts.

Because a secure network can still execute bad instructions perfectly, the language and its tools help catch mistakes before the code reaches the blockchain.

ARES Lang is designed with strong typing, memory safety, static analysis, contract optimization, zero-knowledge tools and post-quantum cryptography.

It’s also exploring a more unusual approach: using seismic data as an additional source of entropy for randomness generation.

You may never write a line of ARES Lang yourself. But it’s worth knowing the kind of engineering behind SourceLess smart contracts and blockchain applications.
