Stairway to the Heavens. ☁️
The imposing facade of Santa Luzia in Viana do Castelo. Looking up at the Santuário just before the light began to fade, there is a quiet power to this place sitting high up on the mountain.
I wanted to use the stairs as leading lines to draw the eye straight up to that stunning rose window and the statue of the Sacred Heart. I shot this wide at 18mm to capture the full grandeur of the Neo-Byzantine architecture against the evening sky.

From silent prayers to luxury stays. 🏛️✨
Standing beneath the massive walls of the Monastery of Santa Clara in Vila do Conde, you really feel how small you are. It’s wild to think this 14th-century sentinel, which once housed the Poor Clares, has been reimagined as a luxury hotel (The Lince). The contrast between the ancient stone grandeur above and the bustling street life below is what caught my eye.
Captured with the trusty Nikon D3100. To make sure I captured all that texture in the stone and plaster, I shot this at f/8 . Using this aperture ensured I was getting the peak sharpness out of my lens, keeping everything crisp from the Carglass sign at the bottom to the statues on the roof.

Taking advantage of the crisp December air to capture the waxing gibbous in all its glory. This shot was a true test of stability—captured handheld at full zoom (200mm) with a slow shutter of 1/40s. No tripod, just a steady hand and a bit of editing magic to cut through the atmospheric glow and reveal the crater details on the terminator line.
