How to make a Perfect Roti 🌿

Soft, round, and puffed-up rotis — just like homemade ones should be! This easy step-by-step method helps you make perfect rotis every time.

🌾 Ingredients:

2 cups whole wheat flour (atta)

Around ¾ cup water (as needed)

1 tablespoon oil or ghee (optional, for softness)

Extra dry flour (for rolling)

🧤 Step 1: Prepare the Dough

1. Place the flour in a large bowl.
2. Gradually pour in water while mixing — do not add all at once.
3. Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until it becomes soft and smooth. It should not be sticky or too firm.
4. If you like, add a bit of oil or ghee while kneading to make the rotis extra soft.
5. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes. This resting time helps the dough become elastic and easy to roll.
🍪 Step 2: Roll the Rotis

1. Divide the dough into equal portions and roll them into small balls.
2. Lightly coat each ball with dry flour.
3. Using a rolling pin, roll each ball into a thin, even circle. Rotate the dough as you roll to keep the shape round and uniform.
4. Keep the rolled rotis covered to prevent them from drying out.

🔥 Step 3: Cook the Rotis

1. Heat a tawa (flat griddle) on medium-high heat until it's hot.
2. Place one rolled roti on the tawa. After 30–40 seconds, bubbles will appear — flip it.
3. Cook the second side for about 30 seconds until golden spots appear.
4. Flip it again and gently press the edges with a spatula or clean cloth — this helps it puff up.
5. Cook for a few more seconds and remove. Repeat for the rest.

Perfect Rotis:

✅ Make sure the dough is soft and well-kneaded.
✅ Let the dough rest — it’s important!
✅ Use a hot tawa for the best puff.
✅ Flip at the right time to avoid dryness.
✅ Fresh flour gives the best taste and texture.

Enjoy your warm, homemade roti with a touch of ghee or your favorite curry. Simple, satisfying, and straight from the heart of the kitchen. 🫓💛

#roti

Today, I’m sharing my attempt at making roti from scratch.

To be honest, making roti has always been a bit challenging for me. In this video, you’ll see that my first roti got a little burnt 😅 — but I still gave it my best!

In the second part, I made a ghee roti, which I’m going to enjoy with a nice cup of chai.(tea)

It may not be perfect, but it’s made
 love. 💛

It was difficult for me to make bread with one hand and hold my mobile phone with the other to make a video.
