Part two of the #survivalPackOnTour ⛏️ Making glue and building tools ⛏️ The glue is made from three components: Tree resin, beeswax and finely ground charcoal. First, the resin is heated until it is completely liquid, then beeswax is added and the mixture must become liquid again. Finally, finely ground charcoal is added as a catalyst. The mixing ratio must be selected so that a viscous but still reasonably liquid mass is created. This stuff sticks like the devil! The workpieces can then be glued together. You have to be quick, because the glue hardens quickly. I had to heat it up again and again in between and hurry when coating the tool.
Part one of #survivalPackOnTour 🔥 Make a fire 🔥 Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the production of the charred cotton. You tear a cotton T-shirt (or other pure cotton fabric). Then you take a small, flat tin with a removable lid and poke a small hole in the lid. Fill the tin with the scraps of fabric and place it in the embers. ATTENTION: The tin must not catch fire! After a short time, smoke will start to come out of the hole. Now wait until there is no more smoke and close the hole with a toothpick or small piece of wood. Leave to cool. There are now pieces of charred cotton in the tin, which are perfect for catching a spark and starting a fire. In the video, I used charred cotton, wood wool as tinder and a bushcraft knife with a fire steel to catch the sparks.
