#earn activity What age is ‘right’ to get married or be a parent?
We keep hearing things like: “You’re too young,” “You’re too old,” “You’re not ready yet,” or “You’re wasting your time waiting.” But what if there’s no one perfect age to get married or be a parent? This activity is about thinking deeper—not just about “age,” but about where you are emotionally, mentally, and in your life when you consider those big steps. You don’t need to be married or be a parent to join. You just need to be honest with yourself and open to learning from your own answers and from others’ reflections. Main goal of the activity: - Reflect on when you think the “right age” (or “right for you”) is to get married or be a parent. - Think about why you feel that way, not just the number. - Respect that financial and emotional stability matter, but they’re not the only factors.
TASK: COPY and ANSWER 1. If you had to pick a number, what age do you think is “right” (or “right for you”) to get married or become a parent? Why? 2. If you think there can be a “right age,” what makes that age feel “right” to you? 3. Do you think being financially or emotionally stable is a MUST before marriage/parenthood, or can it grow along the way? Explain briefly. 4. Whether you’re already married/already a parent or not yet, can you imagine getting married or becoming a parent earlier or later than your “right age,” or even again in the future? Explain briefly. 5. If someone younger than you wanted to get married or be a parent, what would you personally tell them to think about first? ATTACHMENT: My Timeline, My Terms Permission Note -On a piece of paper, create a simple Permission Note card. -At the top , write: My Timeline, My Terms -In the middle , write 2 short permission lines that fit your current situation , whether you’re not married yet, already married, a parent, or choosing not to be. Examples: If married: I give myself permission to have married at 26 and still have more growing to do. If already a parent: I give myself permission to have become a parent earlier/later than most and still be doing my best. If not married/no kids yet: I give myself permission to wait without feeling like I’m wasting time. -At the bottom , write: “ Signed: Myself (the one who knows my own timeline best).” Then add:

I am officially closing this #OwnYourTimeline activity. Thank you all for participating in this thought-provoking discussion about the complexities of marriage and parenthood. Your insights and reflections have truly enriched this activity, reminding us that there is no one-size-fits-all answer to these significant life choices. As we continue to explore our individual timelines, let’s carry forward the understanding that emotional readiness, personal circumstances, and the unique paths we each take are just as important as societal expectations. Rewards have been sent to eligible entries. Out of the 10 reviewed submissions, unfortunately, only 1 participant followed the rules perfectly; the rest incurred deductions for minor or major mistakes. For those who want to understand where you went wrong and why you have deductions, please take some time to review your entries against my guidelines. I won’t be commenting on each mistake individually now, as the issues tend to repeat themselves. Deductions stemmed from the following: 1. Tasks not copied correctly or rephrased 2. Attachments: Hashtag not written correctly as #OwnYourTimeline ; misspelled words; copied the same permission examples; mistakes in the required statement: “Signed: Myself (the one who knows my own timeline best).”; unclear capture of attachment. The total deductions of 310,000 mlx will be distributed as follows: 1. 155,000 mlx -
