When I was in primary school, there was a terrifying legend among the kids, the Red Hand . I never actually saw it myself, so I will call it a legend, but everyone swore they had. According to the stories, it appeared on the classroom walls, desks, or even on the windows, always out of reach, always watching.

No one wanted to sit at the back of the classroom because that’s where the Red Hand supposedly liked to appear. No one dare going to the toilet because it was there too. Kids would huddle together, whispering warnings, “It moves if you look away!” or “It waves at you when the teacher isn’t looking!”

One day, during recess, a group of braver kids decided to investigate. They claimed they saw a bright red handprint on the chalkboard. Everyone froze in horror, until one of them admitted it was just a smudge of red paint from art class. Still, the legend didn’t die, if anything, it got worse.

Even the smallest things, dropping a pen, spilling ink, or knocking over a chair, could send the entire classroom into chaos. “It’s the Red Hand!” the kids would scream, diving under their desks, certain that the ghostly hand was about to grab them.

It wasn’t until I was an adult that I discovered the chilling reason behind the legend. Our school had been built on an ancient cemetery . At the time, I was about seven years old. I noticed what looked like roots arranged in a rectangular shape, though I didn’t really understand what it was. Now I know it was tomb.

It was so long ago, and the schoolyard wasn’t paved back then, it was just bare soil. Suddenly, all those stories, the Red Hand that nobody wanted to confront, the strange little scares, made sense. The hand wasn’t just a prank, maybe it was someone, or something, watching over a place that had never truly been empty. 👻

Even now, whenever I see a streak of red on a wall or a desk, I can’t help but think, maybe the Red Hand is still waiting, waving at the next generation of kids, daring them to notice.

Creepy, right? And as for the video, is that really me? Wow, I’m actually scared of myself. 😁🤣 Let’s hope no one decides to run away! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️
