Beyond Skyline (2017) is a science fiction action film directed by Liam O'Donnell. Serving as a sequel to the 2010 film Skyline, it stars Frank Grillo, Bojana Novakovic, Jonny Weston, Iko Uwais, and Yayan Ruhian. The story unfolds concurrently with the events of the first film, following a Los Angeles police detective, Mark Corley, as he navigates an alien invasion to rescue his son and combat extraterrestrial forces
The film begins with Mark Corley helping his estranged son, Trent, out of jail just as an alien invasion begins. Much of the city's population is taken up into various spaceships by a blue light. Mark leads a group of survivors, including transit operator Audrey and a blind homeless man known as "Sarge," through underground subway tunnels to escape. They are eventually abducted into the alien flagship
Onboard the spaceship, Mark encounters survivor Elaine and her transformed husband, Jarrod, who retains control of his mind despite being transformed into a bio-mechanical alien soldier. Elaine dies during childbirth, and Mark teams up with Jarrod to destroy the ship. Trent's brain is taken and placed into another alien bio-mechanical machine creature. The ship crashes in rural Laos, and Mark, Audrey, and the baby escape
