What if the reason you keep struggling with your goals is because you are focused on the wrong thing?
I have learned that goals can give us direction, but they are terrible places to live.
Think about it. If your entire focus is losing 30 pounds, writing a book, saving money, or running a marathon, every day you have not reached that goal can feel like you are behind. You start measuring yourself by a finish line instead of the progress you are making.
That is why I believe systems are more powerful than goals.
A goal tells you where you want to go. A system determines who you become getting there.
Stop obsessing over the 30 pounds and build the system of moving your body every day. Stop staring at the finished book and create the system of writing every morning. Stop worrying about the amount in your savings account and build the system of consistently putting money away.
This is where CFC becomes so important.
Commitment. Focus. Consistency.
You commit to the direction. You focus on what needs to be done today. Then you consistently repeat it until the behavior becomes part of who you are.
Your potential is not reached through one giant moment. It is revealed through hundreds of small choices repeated frequently.
The goal may be somewhere in the future.
But the system gives you something you can do NOW.
And what you do frequently becomes your frequency.

What if getting your life back on track starts with choosing yourself?
There comes a point when you have to stop spending your energy trying to figure out who is staying, who is leaving, who understands you, or who is willing to change.
Those things are outside your influence.
What is within your influence is you.
I have learned that sometimes the most important thing you can do is turn your attention inward and ask yourself where your own life needs work.
Maybe your body needs to become stronger. Maybe your mind needs some peace. Maybe your finances need more discipline. Maybe your habits need to change. Maybe you have spent so much time worrying about everyone and everything around you that you have slowly disconnected from yourself.
That is where responsibility begins.
Not by blaming yourself for where you are, but by accepting that you are responsible for where you go next.
Start taking care of your body. Become aware of your thoughts. Protect where you spend your energy. Build better habits. Make better financial decisions. Create consistency in the areas that matter.
Most importantly, reconnect with your True Self.
You do not need to chase people into your next chapter. You do not need to convince anyone to understand the person you are becoming.
Your responsibility is to keep becoming.
Put your energy into creating a life that represents who you truly are and what you are capable of becoming.
The right people will not need to be dragged into that life.
They will recognize you when you get there.

What beliefs are you reinforcing every time you talk?
Yesterday I was talking to a guy about sleep and how our bodies use it to physically recover from what we put them through during the day.
He believed seven hours was his number. Anything less meant he did not get enough sleep. I understood because I used to have my own belief about sleep. There was a time when I was getting only two or three hours a night and convinced myself I was an insomniac. I said it enough that eventually my mind accepted it as part of who I was.
Then I started questioning the belief.
I realized there were days when I simply was not demanding enough from my body to require the recovery I thought I needed. Today I challenge my body throughout the day, and my sleep recovery is usually close to perfect. Do I sometimes wake up thinking I am tired? Absolutely. But I have learned to question whether my body is actually tired or whether my mind is repeating an old story.
And that made me realize something much bigger.
Your mind is always listening.
Not only when you talk to yourself, but when you talk to other people. Every time you say I cannot, life is hard, people cannot be trusted, I am terrible at this, or nothing ever works out for me, your mind hears it. Repeat it enough and you reinforce the belief behind it.
Your words are constantly teaching your mind what to believe.
So listen to yourself today. Listen to what you say internally and what you say out loud to others. Question the beliefs behind those words. Keep the ones that help you grow and replace the ones that limit you.
Become your greatest supporter instead of your greatest critic.
Because your mind is always listening.
