** Movies don’t necessarily have to feature Christmas as such – typically, we are looking for movies characterised by themes of love, generosity, and the spirit of giving, often set against a backdrop of holiday festivities and traditions. These kind of films usually emphasise the importance of family, friendship, and redemption, creating a warm and uplifting atmosphere that resonates with audiences during the holiday season.

My pick this month is EDWARD SCISSORHANDS , directed by Tim Burton. Agreed, it may be a tad unusual to pick this as a Christmas film, but since I do not enjoy traditional Christmas flicks very much, I decided to go down another path.
The film Edward Scissorhands weaves a whimsical yet striking tale that resonates deeply during the Christmas season. Set against a picturesque suburban backdrop decorated with festive, colourful decorations, the film explores themes of isolation, love, and acceptance. Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Edward, an innocent and misunderstood creature who has scissors for hands (what’s in a name, right?!), captivates viewers as he seeks belonging and understanding in a world that often shuns those who are different.
The film’s enchanting visuals, combined with Danny Elfman's hauntingly beautiful score, evoke a sense of nostalgia and longing that is particularly strong during the holidays. As Edward’s unique artistry brings joy to the neighbourhood, the story highlights the importance of kindness and community, reminding us of the true spirit of Christmas .
The film delivers a powerful message about acceptance and empathy, making it a cherished watch during the winter holiday season.
This month’s #CaturdayVote is now closed and I received a total of 21 votes in the poll. Thank you to all these #Tanglers who took the time to cast their votes.
Well, since we are getting closer to Christmas, it makes all kind of sense! These kind of films usually emphasise the importance of family, friendship, and redemption, creating a warm and uplifting atmosphere that resonates with audiences during the holiday season.
Join me here TOMORROW for the event, when I will post the ‘official’ #HumpdayAndChill post in the morning.
