Hello dear Tanglers,
Welcome everyone to the SEPTEMBER edition (Nr 9 of 12) of the #HumpdayAndChill 🎬🍿 event – the monthly movie event where we recommend our favourite movies and series centred around a specific topic, chosen by the #TangledCommunity , and where you can #earn a share of 5,000,000 millix.
Our theme was chosen via the #CaturdayVote and this time the Tangled community voted for:
👻 FILMS/SERIES ABOUT GHOSTS & HAUNTED PLACES
Actual ghosts, hauntings, haunted houses/hotels/buildings…
... A very appropriate theme with Halloween around the corner! 🎃
PLEASE OBEY THESE 4 SIMPLE RULES:
1️⃣ PICK your film/series 👀 – please stick to the theme!
2️⃣ Create a POST and tell us about your pick IN YOUR OWN WORDS , please! 🙊

3️⃣ 🚨 COMMENT the NAME of the movie/series + your post LINK under this post 🚨
👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻
4️⃣ No doubles allowed !! If you see another Tangler (including myself!) has picked the same movie, you are welcome to submit another one.
👉🏻 The event lasts THREE days and will be closed Friday 2 October.
👉🏻 All valid entries go into a raffle draw and on Saturday 3 October FIVE winners will be selected who will each receive 1,000,000 millix!
👉🏻 One entry per person only in the draw!

My pick this time is the unforgettable classic BEETLEJUICE (1988).
This is one of those films that feels completely impossible to replicate. A wonderfully strange mix of horror, comedy and fantasy, it follows the recently deceased Maitlands as they try to haunt their old home after the eccentric Deetz family moves in. Enter Betelgeuse , a chaotic “bio-exorcist” who turns everything upside down.
What makes the film so memorable is its sheer imagination. Tim Burton’s bizarre visual style, handmade effects, unforgettable characters and Danny Elfman’s beautiful score all create a world that feels genuinely original. Michael Keaton is simply fantastic as the manic Betelgeuse, while Winona Ryder’s Lydia provides the perfect contrast. And, of course, the Day-O dinner scene remains iconic.
The recent “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” (2024) was rather disappointing by comparison, at least in my opinion. Yes, … it has plenty of Burton-esque visuals, fun moments and Michael Keaton still clearly enjoying himself, but it feels much more crowded and manufactured. Too many characters and storylines compete for attention, and much of the weird magic of the original is replaced by nostalgia and recycled ideas.
After waiting for more than 30 years, I was hoping for something a little more inspired. Nevertheless, the original remains the wonderfully weird, unpredictable classic.
