Here’s my pick for this month – DISTRICT 9 (2009), directed by Neill Blomkamp – a wild sci-fi ride that hits hard with action and some serious social vibes..
The film follows Wikus van de Merwe (Sharlto Copley), a bureaucrat tasked with relocating an alien species, derogatorily called “prawns”, from a Johannesburg slum. When Wikus is exposed to an alien substance, he begins transforming into one of them, forcing him to confront his own humanity and the systemic oppression of the aliens. Christopher, an alien ally, vows to return for Wikus after three years to reverse his transformation.
Well,… we are still waiting for the sequel to see Wikus transformed back and reunited with his family…
District 9 nails it with gritty storytelling and great visuals. It’s a must-see for its bold story and emotional punch.

one of my favourite, and what a soundtrack... filmed where I grew up and with a touch of humour, this was gonna be my pick :)) I'll think of something else
