Today marks a sad day in the Bass Player universe. 😢 We lost two of the big ones, two of the rock gods. 😭
John "the Ox" Entwistle a.k.a. "Thunderfingers" from the Who and Chris Squire a.k.a. Chris Squire, one the founders of the English prog-rock band, Yes.😟
Entwistle was found dead in room 658 at the Hard Rock Hotel here in Las Vegas on June 27th 2002, one day before the scheduled first show of the Who's 2002 United States tour. He was 57 years old. He went out in true rock star form surrounded by hookers and blow. 😟
Squire took a more shitty path, succumbing to acute erythroid leukemia in 2015, he was 67. 😟
Today I raise a glass 🍺 and celebrate these two rock and roll legends. Their music served as part of the soundtrack of my life. 🎉
Whenever you hear thunder, that's all the bass players that have gone on to that great gig in the sky. ⚡🤘

When the news broke of the tragedy in Lisbon, this line came to mind. I didn’t know why at first. But as I watched the live coverage—the desperation, the tears, the rescue workers rushing to save lives—I understood. These people were doing exactly that. They were living. Exploring. Chasing a moment of joy. Hours later, as rescue workers carried victims away with such respect, the weight of it all sank in.
This photo, taken just days ago, now carries a new weight. A quiet yard, a fading sky, and the ache of knowing that someone’s tomorrow never came.
We don’t know what the next day, the next hour, or even the next minute will bring. But while we are here, we owe it to ourselves to live.
May their memory be held with tenderness.
