What are you allowing to take the place of what you really want?
I came across a simple thought that made me stop and think.
We hurry, then wonder why we never feel present.
We worry, then wonder where our peace went.
We doubt, then wonder why our faith feels weak.
We feed our ego, then wonder why love becomes harder to give and receive.
But there is another way to look at it.
Presence slows the hurry.
Peace quiets the worry.
Faith weakens the doubt.
Love softens the ego.
That is where our power really is.
We spend so much of life trying to change everything outside of us, believing that once circumstances cooperate, we will finally feel the way we want to feel. But the real work has always been internal.
You may not influence everything happening around you, but you can influence what you give your attention and energy to.
Today, pay attention to what is showing up inside you.
If you feel rushed, return to NowHere.
If worry appears, ask yourself what you can actually influence right now.
If doubt enters, remember what you have already overcome.
If ego wants to be right, choose curiosity, compassion, and love instead.
Your thoughts create emotions. Your emotions influence actions. Your actions create results.
So maybe the question is not what is stealing your presence, peace, faith, or love.
Maybe the better question is:
What are you feeding?

I have learned that one of the most important choices you will ever make is deciding who gets access to your life.
We like to believe we can surround ourselves with anyone and their energy will not affect us. But it does. The conversations you have, the attitudes you listen to, and the behaviors you tolerate all influence your thoughts. Those thoughts create emotions, those emotions influence actions, and those actions eventually create results.
I see people who genuinely want to create an amazing life, yet they continually surround themselves with people who complain, judge, blame, and live as the victim of everything happening around them. They call it venting, but when venting becomes the same conversation every day without accountability or action, it becomes a pattern.
And patterns create energy.
You may believe you are helping someone by constantly absorbing their catabolic energy. But there comes a point when helping them starts hurting you. Compassion does not require unlimited access. You can care about someone and still create boundaries.
Become aware of how you feel after spending time with the people around you. Do you feel inspired, challenged, supported, and energized? Or do you leave feeling drained, frustrated, negative, and smaller?
Your circle does not have to be perfect. But it should not consistently pull you away from the person you are working to become.
Choose your circle intentionally.
Protect your energy.
And keep becoming more of who you truly are.

I was. And I did not realize how mentally exhausting it had become.
Somewhere along the way, I had given everyone unlimited access to me. Every call felt like it needed answered. Every text needed a response. Every email deserved attention. I had conditioned myself to believe being available meant being dependable.
Eventually I realized I had lost something important.
Disconnection.
That space where nobody needs anything from you. Where there are no questions to answer, problems to solve, or expectations to meet. A place where your mind can simply be present.
What really created the imbalance was my expectation that others would give me the same access I gave them. But that was not their responsibility. It was mine. I created the expectation because I assumed people would respond the way I did.
They will not.
And that is okay.
But here was the bigger realization. I also needed to stop expecting myself to always be me.
I did not have to respond immediately. I did not have to treat every notification like an emergency. I could disconnect and the world would keep moving.
And it did.
The important things still got done. The people who truly needed me still had me. But I began protecting the space between everyone else’s needs and my own energy.
You do not owe everyone unlimited access to you.
Sometimes protecting your energy means disconnecting long enough to remember that you have a choice where it goes.
Your energy is valuable.
Spend it intentionally.
